Scope and Contents: Scattered papers of and relating to long-time professor of Rhetoric and Biblical Literature at Carleton. Includes biographical information, memorial statements and eulogies, correspondence (mostly concerning his retirement on a Carnegie Endowment Pension), pen and pencil sketches, and writings. The writings contain handwritten and typescript mss. as well as printed material. Poetry includes song and hymn lyrics and an "Inauguration Ode" for President Sallmon; prose pieces range from light newspaper articles to a short story for a Collier's competition to sermons.
