The collection is arranged into three subgroups, the first subgroup consisting of the papers of the Task Force, the second of the papers from each chairperson of the committee, the third subgroup consisting of departmental "reviews." The EPC minutes are filed separately from the main collection, as are the minutes of the Academic Standing Committee. Additional departmental reviews are on file in the Library.

The Chairperson's Files subgroup is arranged into nine series, one for each chairperson. Each series is divided into three subseries: Sub-Committees; Concentrations, Studies and Miscellaneous Curricular Programs; and Miscellaneous. The SubCommittees subseries includes reports and correspondence of various standing and ad hoc sub-committees of the EPC. Records of the Academic Standing Committee (filed separately) pertain to individual students and are closed to research except under specific conditions. (These, and other folders whose use is restricted, are marked on the contents list with "+." Please consult with the Archivist for further instruction.) The Concentrations, Studies, and Miscellaneous Curricular Programs subseries contains proposals, correspondence, and notes pertaining to curricular matters. The Miscellaneous subseries consists of all documents from the files of the chairperson which do not belong in either of the two preceeding subseries. The content of this subseries varies greatly form chairperson to chairperson.

The Departmental Reviews subgroup is arranged alphabetically by department. The folders contain the actual review of the department concerned, documents concerning the general policy of conducting such reviews are located in the Miscellaneous subseries of the Chairperson's Files subgroup. In some folders (marked in the contents list with "=") the initial report from the department which details course desciptions, teaching loads, and the major program, is missing.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The record group consists of minutes, correspondence, notes, circulars, reviews and proposals of the Educational Polcy Task Force of the College Planning Committee (1969-70) and the Educational Policy Committee (1970 to 1989). The Educational Policy Committee (EPC) was created in 1970 as part of the new goveranace system and is comprised of adminstration, faculty, and students. The EPC was given responsibilty for determining the educational program and policies of the college including curricular programs, academic regulations, matters of academic standing, and questions pertaining to calendar and class schedule.

The collection is arranged into three subgroups, the first subgroup consisting of the papers of the Task Force, the second of the papers from each chairperson of the committee, the third subgroup consisting of departmental "reviews." The EPC minutes are filed separately from the main collection, as are the minutes of the Academic Standing Committee. Additional departmental reviews are on file in the Library.

Items of interest in the collection include a questionnaire on class schedule revision sent to faculty and seniors, located in Tisdale's Miscellaneous subseries. In addition, two questionnaires are included in Wolf's Interdisciplinary Studies folder (which contains most of the documents of the Coordinating Committee on Interdisciplinary Studies) in the Concentrations, Studies, and Miscellaneous Curricular Programs subseries. The miscellaneous folders of the various subseries are occasionally complied from numerous small subject folders found in the original filing system; in such cases the folder contains its own directory of the original folder titles which are contained within it. And in the original filing system, a few early Tisdale documents were interfiled with Wolf's papers. These folders are mostly located in the Wolf series.
