Arrangement: These pre-1909/10 prints are individually housed in sequentially-numbered envelopes within separate size classifications: prints labeled 'a' are 4.25x5.25" or smaller; prints labeled "c" are larger than "a" up to 5.25x7.25"; prints labeled 'd' are larger than 'c" up to 8x10". Some pre-1909/10 prints are also physically housed with oversized prints: prints labeled 'e' are larger than 8x10" but not larger than 11x14.5"; prints labed 'y" are larger than "e" up to 16x20"; prints labeled 'z' are larger than 16x20".

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The oldest Carleton photographs; images taken prior to July 1, 1909. (Note, however, that additional pre-1909/10 photographs may be found elsewhere as well, such as in the Photographic Prints -- Individual Alumni, and Individual STAFF collections.)
